300 THz

Infrared (IR) light waves are a part of ordinary daylight, but can also
be generated by light emitting diodes or incandescent lamps. The
wavelength is about one micrometer (1/1 000 000 m) long, corresponding
to a frequency of 300 THz (300·1012 Hz). This wavelength represents
heat rather than light, in difference to the high-energy
short-wavelength ultraviolet (UV) light at the other side of the light
spectrum. Infrared waves are therefore friendly to the human body, just
like daylight and light from the lamps that we have at home.
